ERPNext was implemented at their manufacturing and distribution center in Standerton by cloudERP over a period of six months. The textiles manufacturer has been live on ERPNext since 01 March 2018. Prior to this, Standerton Mills was using Pastel, MS EXCEL and IBM’s AS/400 to manage their business operations.

Through their leadership, Standerton Mills management was able to pinpoint the top open source manufacturing ERP solution, ERPNext, which is all-in-one software with full functionality which includes manufacturing that allows for mass customization. This meant they could bend technology around their current business problem, rather than changing the way their business functioned in order to fit the limitations of the software.

Before beginning its search for a new ERP, Standerton Mills knew it needed a cloud based ERP system that would allow its 430 employees to access and interact with the same data across all departments. The textiles manufacturer wanted to ensure that it would be able to measure and monitor the health of its business in real-time and create accurate sales and production forecasts, plus manage the financials in one single, reliable, real time and integrated system. ERPNext’s highly extensible functionality has given Standerton Mills the insight, visibility and control it needs to make its processes more efficient and effective.

Standerton Mills had demanding requirements for complex integration to hardware that included scale heads, custom bar code printing, QR code printing, and hand-held scanners. cloudERP was called on to develop bespoke apps to meet those requirements. Standerton Mills now makes use of very low-cost consumer technology (inexpensive Android smart phones) to scan finished products as they come off the production machinery. Factory workers access ERPNext on their Android phones (via the Android Mobile Apps developed by cloudERP), and for very little money, make use of a scanning device that inputs information directly into ERPNext. They use the same Android phones to scan products as they get dispatched to customers around South Africa and to as far away destinations as Canada and the United States.
